The Anime Ranking cards

This collection of cards is based on a dataset of the popular anime ranking site Myanimelist.net. When we got presented with the assignment to make a book out of a dataset that we could find online, I immediately wanted to use one that aligned with my interests. But I didn’t want to make just a book; I really wanted to make a dataset that could have a purpose. My definition of “a book” is a pretty loose one anyway. I took the first 500 of the highest-ranked animated series and printed them on brightly colored paper. The back of the cards are generated and layered manga screentones based on some of the metadata in the sheet. The user of this dataset could make a selection of cards based on which anime they have watched and make their own ranking. This is a cool way to keep track and keep you entertained! You can even play games! Gather friends and make a selection of known anime together; take turns reading the descriptions and the others guess the title!
